FISHING REPORTS - FANTASTIC FEBRUARY FISHING CONTINUES !

Temperatures continue to be warm and cold fronts are few and far between. Water temperatures have risen to 70 degrees and snook, redfish, and trout are extremely active and abundant.

Northern Pine Island Sound has had a couple lackluster years of snook fishing due to the freeze, that took place two years ago, but this February is showing signs of a spring full of excellent snook fishing. There are already large numbers of snook showing up on the flats and anglers aboard my boat have enjoyed many great snook fishing charters over the last couple weeks.
Redfish are everywhere, plain and simple. They are being caught on live shiners, shrimp, Berkley Gulp, and Sebile Stick Shads. The hot color for Berkley Gulp Jerk Shads is Watermelon Neon and the ticket for the Gulp Shrimp is Lime tiger. The more erratic the action of the lure, the better the results.

Trout fishing continues to be strong. The deeper flats, troughs, and sloughs are full of 14-18" fish and the shallower flats and potholes are producing the big breeder trout in the 20-27" range. Shrimp on a cork has been the most productive method for catching them.

If you want to pull on something big, let's go shark fishing. There are large 6-10 foot sharks all around the bay right now. We fish for them inshore, fishing the edges of flats in deeper sloughs where the sharks navigate through our flats searching for their next meal. My Penn Torque 40's have been getting a lot of use over the last couple weeks catching these monsters.

Also, if you are planning a Tarpon fishing charter in May-July, now is the time to get your dates in. I still have plenty of dates available but they are going quick so call or email to reserve yours soon before it is too late.

I hope this report finds everyone doing well and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Tight Lines,
Capt. Dave Hoke

Testimonials

Capt. Dave, Thanks for a wonderful two days of fishing. It's not often you set out on a plan and it is basically executed to perfection (big reds, snapper, short groupers, trophy snook, and 100-300 lb Goliaths) in the world of fishing. I'm already trying to work on two of my buddies to come down there with me and maybe a have a repeat performance. I'll let you know if I can get them to commit.."

"Captain Dave! Wow, that is the only word that sums up our fishing trip last week. 30 redfish over 30" and 2 35" Snook. I am spoiled, For LIFE! "

Bob R

"Captain Dave.Total was 20-25 snook (we lost count) with almost all over 30", largest was the one below, 42". Plus 7 reds from 29"-33" and a nice 22" gag kicker. It is hard to keep two kids focused on fishing for 4 hours but its much easier when your baits are getting hammered on almost every cast. We have a ton more photos on the camera but need to upload them. I will post one or two that are on my phone. Thanks again Captain Dave.

"Dave, I just wanted to take this time to send you a note thanking you for such an awesome experience. I have fished with guides all over the world and I have never seen anyone take control on the water like you do. Your passion for your job and wealth of knowledge is truly amazing and I can't wait for many trips in the future. "

Capt. Dave, Jackson and Dodd can't stop talking about that giant Bull Shark they caught. I am sure we will be giving you another call if we make it back for spring break. Either way, I will refer you to anyone I know that is visiting the area. ."
